Artists in Residence

Two people stand on a stage speaking into microphones, under a light up sign that reads 'The Glitch'

Our residencies spotlight artists, collectives and communities who align with our ethos, and who create platforms that give opportunities to other artists and build community. Our artists in residence run regular events, performances, workshops or meet-ups here at The Glitch, where they benefit from free space and support from the programming and marketing teams. Read all about our residents below, and check out our what’s on page for upcoming events.

If you would like to discuss having a residency at The Glitch for your creative project or collective, get in touch with opportunities@vaultcreativearts.org

Whether you’re a die-hard comedy fan or just looking for an entertaining evening, come and see comedians experiment with new jokes or characters, and share your thoughts after via QR code! Don’t miss out – be a part of this rare opportunity for comedians to gain constructive audience insight into their work as it grows.

Happening every first Thursday of the month at The Glitch.

Pages & Pints

Pages & Pints is a supportive space for playwrights to test out new ideas and push toward the finish line on difficult drafts. We meet once a month to read vulnerable early pages of each other’s work in the Spacement, then we decamp upstairs to socialise awkwardly like the good writers we are.

Led by Ellen Ritchie (she/her) and K. Angel (they/them), Pages & Pints especially seeks to be a home for writers who want to build a stronger London network (though all are welcome). Each session includes room for about 10 writers to share their work. Playwrights may opt in to have pages read or can join to help read, listen, discuss and socialise.

On the Wall

On The Wall is a monthly gathering where poets and playwrights can share their new work. Run by Cubicle Theatre, these events are about community and support, to encourage those first scary steps towards performing something new. We are looking for spoken word pieces, monologues and 2 handers - whether it’s the finished product or a first draft, everything is welcome! After the sharings, feel free to hang out at the bar with us to swap feedback and meet other creatives.
To find out more - or if you’re interested in performing - follow & message us on instagram @cubicle.theatre

NICE Comedy

NICE showcases fantastic up and coming comics alongside funny people you’ve probably seen on the telly! With comedy ranging from the bizarre, to the silly, to the embarrassingly personal – the one thing these comics have in common is that they’re all certified nice people.

After starting over the pandemic as a writers’ room for underrepresented voices, NICE has been running for over a year and we are now an Artist in Residence at The Glitch. NICE pride ourselves on having warm, welcoming audiences who allow our acts to share their silliest ideas. The night is always eclectic with character comedy, stand-up, and musical comedy all featuring on the bill.

We don’t take ourselves too seriously and regularly dress up as biscuits. If you are someone who loves a laugh and will pity applaud poorly-made cardboard props, then come on down!

Improv @ The Glitch

Prepare to have your irrational fears turned into hilarious and absurd stories. Whether its a fear of pigeons or the sticky bits on envelopes, Noise From The Attic will find a way to spin a humorous yarn that will leave your sides in so much laughter-induced pain your next irrational fear might just be improv.

Every month we’ll be joined by 3 fantastic guest improv teams, to bring you a night of unbridled, made-up-on-the-spot, hilarious nonsense.

Staging the Climate Crisis

Nothing to Perform (N2P)

N2P are a film/theatre production collective based in London. We stage bold new plays, provide free development opportunities for artists, and regularly source actors for paid work at the London Film School.

Networkshops are N2P’s signature FREE, monthly events focused on professional development and networking, led by a guest artist in a central London venue.

Since December of 2018, we’ve been gathering to share skills, make creative connections, build community, and occasionally get a sweat on, all in the name of accessible art. Topics change every month – we cover everything from the usual monologue surgeries, scratch nights, and self-tape tutorials to more bespoke sessions like collage-as-feminist-dramaturgy and self-care while self-producing!

Patch Plays: Staging Change

Patch Plays is a theatre company that stages new writing engaging with environmental sustainability, animal ethics, and their intricate connection. Patch Plays will be hosting events including Scratch Nights of short new plays that explore these topics in inspiring and insightful ways. These evenings will be a great opportunity for emerging writers to present fresh ideas in front of welcoming audiences, to connect with talented actors and directors who will bring their work to life. Let’s stage the change.
