How To Write a Play: Workshop Series

  • The Glitch 134 Lower Marsh London, England, SE1 7AE United Kingdom (map)

Join us for a brand new workshop series led by Robert Holtom, writer of 'Dumbledore is so Gay' – How To Write A Play!

We’ll work together in a supportive and collaborative environment, while we explore the art and craft of writing a play. Over 5 sessions we will:

  • Explore the core ingredients of a play including character, plot, world, genre, structure and story.

  • Examine dialogue and different ways of writing voices

  • Explore how to represent diversity and intersectionality within the text

  • Do practical, written and interactive exercises to build our skills

  • Share our writing with the group and receive positive & supportive feedback

The course runs on Monday evenings 6.30pm – 8.30pm from the 15th January – 12th February. The course costs £90 for all 5 sessions (or if you just want to dip in for one session, you can book one for £20). For those who attended the “Write A Short Play” course, there will only be a small amount of overlap in material.

The session outlines are as follows:

  1. Ideas & Story

  2. Character, World & Plot

  3. Form, Genre & Structure

  4. Dialogue

  5. Editing & Redrafting

Robert is a communications coach and prize-winning playwright.
